GCP - Newmarket Road travel hub consultation 2025
Overview
We want your views on the facilities and features that should be included at the travel hub to ensure it meets the needs of the community as effectively as possible.
What is a travel hub?
A travel hub is a central place where people can easily connect between different ways of getting around, including buses, cycles, and walking. The hub is designed to make everyday travel smoother and more accessible for all users.
The new site, near the Newmarket Road and Airport Way junction, will replace the current Newmarket Road Park and Ride, and offer easier access from the A14 and potential for new bus links to the Cambridge Biomedical Campus and city centre.
Our recommended designs for the new travel hub include:
- Approximately 200 cycle parking spaces
- Approximately 1,800 car parking spaces
- Bus and cycle interchange
- Travel hub building with toilet and waiting facilities
- Designated space for coach parking
- Signal-controlled access junctions on Newmarket Road and Airport Way
- Extension of the Teversham shared-use path into the site
For further details on the proposed new travel hub, please refer to the consultation brochure which is available to download at the bottom of the page.
