Bottisham Greenway - Riverside
Page 1
Introduction
The Greater Cambridge Partnership (GCP) is developing proposals to improve Riverside, part of the Bottisham Greenway, making it is easier to use, more inclusive and more welcoming for everyone.
The greenways are a network of 12 schemes providing safer, improved routes for walking, wheeling and cycling, while enhancing streets and public spaces across Greater Cambridge. The aim for Riverside is to create a safer, more accessible and enjoyable through route to the city and its surrounding areas. As part of the enhancements, additional seating and planting will also be provided.
Riverside is a popular walking, wheeling and cycling route alongside the River Cam in Cambridge. It is enjoyed by many people spending time by the river and serves as a gateway to the city, nearby green spaces and key destinations.
Our proposals aim to:
- Make walking, wheeling and cycling along the river easier, safer, more comfortable and inclusive with dedicated pathways
- Provide more places for people to pause and rest with new seating and landscaping
Whether you live in, work in, or travel through the area, we want your feedback to help us shape this project and ensure it meets your needs. Please respond to this survey and share your views on our design. We will then use this feedback to develop our proposals further.
What information do you need before completing the survey?
We encourage you to read the Riverside consultation brochure before completing this survey.

About the scheme
What are we engaging on?
We are consulting on proposed improvements for Riverside along the route from Elizabeth Way Bridge to Stourbridge Common, including:
- Wider, more consistent footways for people walking and wheeling.
- Accessible seating and planting to create communal space where people can enjoy the views.
- Clearer signage and installation of pedestrian crossings to support wayfinding and help slow down vehicles and bikes.
- Safe and secure cycle parking to encourage sustainable travel.
Overall, the proposals aim to improve the riverside as a safe, accessible and sustainable travel route, while enhancing the public space to make it more welcoming and enjoyable.
We want to understand your views to help shape our proposals on the improvements for Riverside.
