260608 Survey - Great and Little Shelford C of E Primary School
Overview
The Department for Education (DfE) is currently inviting applications for Phase 3 of the School Based Nursery Programme. The programme enables state-funded schools to create or expand early years provision on their premises.
Whilst Great and Little Shelford C of E Primary School already have early years provision - Rainbow Pre-school – it operates from a mobile which only has planning permission until 2029. When planning permission was approved, it was noted that a permanent solution should be sought. Therefore, the local authority intends to apply for funding to replace the existing mobile with permanent accommodation to ensure continuation of the provision from 2029 onwards.
If successful, the permanent accommodation would be situated on the existing building footprint so that it is closely located to the school’s reception class. Detailed plans would only be drawn up if the application were successful – in line with the expectations set by the DfE. However, it is envisaged that this would cater for the same number of children, and for children aged 2 to 4 years (as it does now).
