Oxford Rd Windsor Rd junction improvements survey
Overview
We are carrying out this survey to gather views on safety improvements to the Oxford Road / Windsor Road junction from those who regularly use the area.
Over the past few years a number of different designs for the junction have been consulted on and it is clear that the strongest views expressed have been against the removal of the barrier at the Windsor Road end of the passageway.
We have listened to the feedback and the barrier will be retained. But we would like your views on other safety measures that will help slow traffic through the junction, make crossing the road easier and allow for more waiting space between the barrier and the carriageway.
In designing the proposals we have reviewed the street lighting and checked that the narrower carriageway at the junction would not pose problems for residents turning in and out of driveways.
As part of the works, we would re-surface the junction and carry out a full drainage review to inform the location of new gullies and kerb inlets and ensure improved drainage in and around the junction. Street gullies would also be thoroughly cleansed.
With the growth of Darwin Green, there will be more people walking and cycling at the junction and whilst the proposed works would discourage through motor traffic, the area will inevitably become busier so we feel it would be wise to make the changes now.
