Guided Busway - Histon and Impington Crossings Survey

Overview

On 2 December, our Highways and Transport Committee approved an allocation of £2million to support the provision of new formal crossings on the Cambridgeshire Guided Busway, following the closure of a number of informal crossings.

We’d like to get your views on the location of a new crossing point in Histon and Impington to support our decision making through our short survey.

In Histon and Impington, two well-used informal crossing points have been closed off as part of our measures to improve safety. We plan to install a single new formal crossing close to the Manor Park or Orchard informal crossing points.

The new crossing will need to include a suitably surfaced path to connect to the existing rights of way network. For crossing point A, this would likely mean providing a short surfaced path along the edge of Histon Community Wood to the footpath from the St Audreys crossing, for crossing point B this would likely mean surfacing the path on the eastern side of the Community Orchard.

We plan to design and deliver this alongside the proposed separation fencing, between the busway and the path alongside it, later in 2026.

We’d like to understand whether you have a preferred location for the new formal crossing.
