Sidgwick Avenue Pre ETRO Engagement
Overview
Sidgwick Avenue forms part of the GCP's Comberton Greenway, before it ends in Silver Street.
Over 70% of people using Sidgwick Avenue walk or wheel but, an average of 250 pedestrians or wheelchair users are being forced off the path and out into the road each day. This is due to the hazardous state of the pavements which have been badly damaged by the growth of London Plane trees and have become almost impassable in some locations.
Our proposals
We're proposing an Experimental Traffic Regulation Order (ETRO) which will introduce temporary measures to improve pedestrian access and reduce through motor traffic, including:
- the installation of temporary footway buildouts to improve pedestrian crossing and accessibility.
- the installation of two bolt-down bollards in the centre of the street to prevent motor vehicle through-movement while maintaining existing access from either end of the street.
- the removal and suspension of pay-and-display parking along the street.
Why your views matter
This survey is being carried out to understand users’ current views of Sidgwick Avenue before any temporary changes are made.
The information we collect will be used to assess the effectiveness of the ETRO with a comparison of how people viewed the street before and during its implementation.
