Business Plan and Budget 2026-27 – 2028-29: Phase 1 Engagement

Closes 24 Nov 2025

Opened 24 Oct 2025

Overview

Each year Cambridgeshire County Council must set a budget that sets out how much money will be spent on services, and this is known as the business planning process. The council's costs are rising, the population is growing, and demands for services are growing more complex, particularly children's and adults social care. For more information on how Cambridgeshire's population is changing, please see the Cambridgeshire and Peterborough Insight website.

A third of the council's funding comes from council tax and nearly half of spending is on adults and children's social care. This survey includes information of where the council's funding comes from and how it is spent.

We have provided supporting information about the business planning process and our considerations in the following document:

Why your views matter

There are difficult decisions to make to balance the budget and we want to hear your views. The council is engaging with you in two phases between October 2025 and January 2026. This will help ensure your views can inform our next Business Plan, which will set out our budget decisions for the next three financial years.

This engagement survey (also known as Phase One) will ask for your general views on how the council should prioritise spending and savings decisions.
